BETTER ACCESS

The Better Access Mental Health Care initiative provides medicare rebates for psychological treatment. Under this scheme individuals can access up to 10 individual treatment sessions per calendar year.

To receive the medicare rebate you will need a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) provided by your General Practitioner (GP). The MHTP initially provides individuals with 6 sessions. A GP review is then completed before providing the additional 4 sessions. The Medicare rebate is a total of $93.35 per session.

Clients can also receive psychological support at DY Psychology without a MHTP.

PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE

Some clients may be eligible for a rebate through their private health insurance. Prior to scheduling a session, it is recommended that clients contact their insurance provider to determine if they are eligible to claim, and the amount claimable under their policy.

Please also note that some health funds insist you exhaust all medicare refunds before using private health.

PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT SERVICES

Psychological Support Services (PSS) provides short term psychological therapy for people that live in the Central and Eastern Sydney region experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns, financial hardship and who may not be able to access support through medicare subsidised psychological services.

Suicide Prevention Services (SPS) are also offered to provide support to people in the community who are at increased risk of suicide or self-harm.

Referral forms completed by GP's are required for all PSS programs.

NATIONAL DISABILITY INSURANCE SCHEME

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is designed to support people with disability to increase their independence and fully participate in community and working life. Treatment can be accessed using your NDIS funding.
